I am really happy to be with you years later. As the director of the Turkish Tourism Office in Beijing for many years, it is a good opportunity for me to be able to communicate with many friends from the sector that I have met and worked with.
Here with you; both Turkey and the current developments in the tourism sector in the world, share the news on innovations, favourites and trends , we will closely follow the world of tourism.
One of the latest events closely concern Turkey and China was held in Izmir in September. In the 88th Izmir International Izmir Fair, China was the partner country this year. For Chinese people who has been already, Izmir is a beautiful, Izmir is love, means romance, sunset and breeze. I have often heard from my Chinese friends that they like Izmir more than Istanbul.
In İzmir, also my hometown the number of the firms attended to fair reached 61 from China this year . Chinese cuisine, Chinese acrobats, such as cultural events shook the city full of Chinese presentation was made during the week. After China Southern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines also start from Wuhan to direct flights to İstanbul and more Chinese visitors will be hosted in Turkey and bilateral relations will develop further. Turkey received 400,000 Chinese visitor in 2018 recorded an increase of up to 40 percent of the number of Chinese tourists visiting next year is expected to be more than exceeded this figure.
There were numerous high-level contacts between the two countries during the fair. The Turkish delegation was chaired by the Minister of Commerce. On the Chinese side, high-level participants from Chengdu and Shanghai were the Chinese sides of the meeting. Throughout the exhibition, with the participation of representatives from the business world, Turkey & China Business Council meeting took place.
The business council meetings were followed closely by both the international and Turkish and Chinese press. We will see the reflections of the contribution of the fair activity to the strategic partnership of the two countries in the coming years.
